PALS is inspired by The Tickles Foundation:
The Tickles Foundation was created from a place of profound gratitude, to honor the memory of Pals’ founder Lisa’s soulmate, Tickles.
This innovative foundation advocates for rescue animals by supporting shelters that heroically accept, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for animals. In her first year of life, Tickles found herself in not one, but two shelters. It’s in this spirit of second chances, that the Tickles Foundation came to life.
Taking innovation a step further, the Foundation has established an initiative akin to an Affordable Care Act for Animals, striving to advance protections they currently lack and offering essential emergency financial assistance to pet parents. No one should ever have to face the impossible choice between affording urgent care and their animal’s well-being. Animals are not just loyal, loving family members—they are angels in physical form, guiding and comforting us in the times we need them most. They deserve equal rights and our full compassion.
We also seek to help fund research to identify the cause of Hemangiosarcoma (HSA) a highly malignant cancer predominantly affecting dogs, and to a lesser extent, cats. In the United States alone, a dog succumbs to HSA every two minutes. Known as a silent killer due to the lack of warning signs and rapid growth, most animal parents discover this once the tumor has ruptured and it has already become life threatening. Urgent research and testing for improved treatment options is near and dear to us, because it was the cause of Tickles passing, and many other dogs that we’ve known and loved.
A percentage of PALS proceeds is donated to the Tickles Foundation:
30% of proceeds from every Grief & Healing Workshop & Kit.
100% of proceeds from the PALS forthcoming collection of signature merchandise (launching soon) is donated to the Tickles Foundation’s charitable and impactful mission.
The Tickles Foundation is a formal non-profit established in Illinois in 2024, as a 501(c)(3). Official IRS tax-deduction approval takes several months, and is expected by Q1 of 2025. Tax-deductable receipts will be available once our 501(c)(3) status is officially approved by the IRS, and will be updated here, and on the transparency/impact page of the official Tickles Foundation website. While we wait, your support will not be tax deductible, but every contribution will still go directly to the Tickles Foundation, and you will be notified promptly once your donation has been transferred. Through your support of PALS, and thus, the Tickles Foundation, you are making a direct contribution to advancing animal and animal parent welfare in new and innovative ways.
Because grief support should never be out of reach, we are also building a compassionate community where anyone experiencing pet loss can find comfort without financial burden.
You can sponsor others in grief through specific donation options or become a Pre, Junior, Senior, or Pro-PAL, and help others along their healing journey. Together, we can create a profound support system.
Every bit of support helps us reach one more heart in need.
